EduStep – Terms and Conditions

By booking or using tutoring services provided by EduStep, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. General Terms

1.1 Scope of Services

EduStep provides online tutoring services to students aged 11–18 preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations. Tuition may cover exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR.All services are delivered online via agreed digital platforms.

1.2 Eligibility

Services are available to individuals aged 18 or over, orStudents under the age of 18 may only use our services with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for accepting these Terms and Conditions on the student’s behalf.

1.3 Appointment Policies

All tutoring sessions must be booked in advance. Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session. Failure to provide adequate notice may result in the session being charged in full, as tutor time has been reserved.

1.3.1 Student Late Arrival / Non-Attendance

Tutors will wait for a maximum of 15 minutes from the scheduled session start time for the student to join the online meeting. If the student has not joined within this period:

• The tutor may leave the session
• The session may be treated as a missed lesson and may still be charged in full

During the waiting period, tutors will notify the EduStep administration team that the student has not attended. EduStep may attempt to contact the parent or guardian regarding the student's attendance.

1.4 Payment Terms

EduStep operates on a pay-as-you-go basis.

  • Payment must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session.

  • Sessions will not be confirmed until payment has been received.

  • Invoices will be sent to the parent or guardian’s registered email address, and all payments must be completed via Stripe using the secure payment link provided in the invoice.

EduStep reserves the right to suspend or cancel sessions where payment has not been completed.

1.5 Parent and Student Responsibilities

Parents/guardians and students agree to:• Ensure the student attends sessions on time and is prepared
• Provide a suitable learning environment free from disruption
• Ensure appropriate behaviour during sessions
• Inform EduStep of any relevant learning needs or safeguarding concerns in advanceEduStep is not responsible for missed learning due to late arrival, technical issues on the student’s side, or lack of preparation.

1.6 Refund Policy

EduStep does not provide refunds for completed tutoring sessions.If a session is cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice, the payment may be transferred to a rescheduled session.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed sessions, may be charged in full and are not eligible for refund.

Where EduStep cancels a session, the parent or guardian may choose to reschedule the session or receive a refund.

1.7 Technical Requirements

Students are responsible for ensuring they have:

• A stable internet connection
• Access to the required online learning platform
• A working microphone and device suitable for online learning

EduStep is not responsible for disruptions caused by technical issues on the student’s device, internet connection, or software.

2. Communication (WhatsApp, Calls, and Messaging)

2.1 Communication Channels

EduStep may communicate with parents and students via:

• WhatsApp
• Phone calls
• Email

Message frequency typically ranges from 5–15 messages per month, depending on engagement. When sessions are booked, students and parents may be added to a WhatsApp group including:

• The tutor
• An EduStep administratorJoining the group is optional but helps with:• Session coordination
• Sharing learning materials
• Homework assignment and feedback

2.2 Message and Data Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile network provider.

EduStep is not responsible for any charges incurred from your carrier.

2.3 Privacy and Data Security

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

EduStep does not sell or share phone numbers or personal data with third parties.

3. Privacy Policy

4. Safeguarding, Disclaimer, and Liability

4.1 Safeguarding

EduStep operates in accordance with its Safeguarding Policy to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. All online sessions are conducted professionally and appropriately at all times.

4.2 Educational Disclaimer

EduStep provides academic support and guidance but does not guarantee specific exam results or grade outcomes. Student progress depends on individual effort, attendance, and engagement beyond tutoring sessions.

4.3 Limitation of Liability

EduStep is not responsible for:

• Technical issues beyond our control (e.g., internet outages or platform failures)
• Missed sessions due to student unavailability or failure to attend
• Exam board decisions, syllabus changes, or assessment outcomesTo the fullest extent permitted by law, EduStep’s liability is limited to the value of the tutoring session paid for.

4.4 Intellectual Property

All teaching materials, worksheets, presentations, and resources provided by EduStep remain the intellectual property of EduStep. Materials are provided for personal educational use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or shared without written permission.

4.5 Right to Refuse or Terminate Services

EduStep reserves the right to refuse or terminate tutoring services where:

• A student behaves inappropriately or disruptively
• Payments are repeatedly late or unpaid
• A parent or student breaches these Terms and ConditionsWhere possible, reasonable notice will be provided.

4.6 Force Majeure

EduStep shall not be liable for failure or delay in performing services where such failure results from events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

• Internet outages
• Power failures
• Illness
• Natural disasters
• Platform outages

5. Changes to Terms

EduStep reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon publication on our website.Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

6. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
